Visiting for the First Time?

People like to know what to expect, so here is everything you need for your first class at Haute Bodhi.

Our door locks when class starts. Here's why.

Haute Bodhi doesn’t have front desk staff. Once class begins, your teacher is in the hot room with you, and nobody is watching the entrance. Locking the door keeps you, your belongings, and the room safe.

Give yourself 10-15 minutes to park, sign in, and settle your mat. First time with us? Come 20 minutes early so we can get you set up. 🙏

Running a couple of minutes late? Call the studio at (202) 243-3000 and let us know! Running 5 minutes late? Catch us in the next class. We’d rather see you there than have you stuck in the hallway.

Finding the entrance

Our front entrance is in the rear of the building! The hot room is visible from Wisconsin Ave., but the entrance is around the corner on Ellicott St., accessed through the alley. You’ll see a mural of a purple elephant, and you’ll know you’re home! The entrance is on the ground floor at the rear of the building, so once you’re inside, come up one level to the studio.

What to bring

We require a mat and a mat-sized towel for every student in every class.

Come hydrated and bring a water bottle, or purchase a beverage once you arrive. It’s hot in here.

What to wear

Appropriate, sweat-ready attire is a must. For everyone’s comfort, we prefer a modest approach to skin exposure, with well-fitting clothing that keeps private areas fully covered. Men should wear shorts, shirt optional. Women do best in a sports or yoga bra and shorts or pants.
